WATERFORD’S HEAVY DEFEAT in today’s Munster final to Tipperary means we now know the pairings for the All-Ireland quarter-finals at the end of the month.
With repeat games from provincial championship matches not permitted, Waterford cannot face Clare and thus will take on Wexford. It will be a repeat of the qualifier clash between the counties in July 2014, where Wexford ran out victors in Nowlan Park.
That’ll mean Clare will take on Galway in the other quarter-final clash. That will be a repeat of the 2013 tie between the counties at the same stage, which saw Clare triumph and they subsequently went on to lift the Liam MacCarthy Cup.
