Jose Aldo explains why he expects to finish Conor McGregor quickly

It will be quick and painless, the UFC champ insists.

SIX OF HIS last nine bouts have gone the distance but Jose Aldo says he intends to put Conor McGregor away early.

Aldo, the UFC’s undisputed featherweight champion, will take on the interim 145lbs title-holder in Las Vegas on 12 December.

During a Facebook Q&A session with fans for Brazilian media outlet Combate, Aldo was asked how he plans to defeat McGregor in the main event at UFC 194.

The animosity between the pair has increased throughout the year, but Aldo — who defeated Chad Mendes via unanimous decision in his most recent outing — said he has no plans to prolong the punishment at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

“It will be as quick as possible, because nobody suffers that way,” Aldo said. “We can go back home right away to eat and celebrate. We will suffer much less this time.

“Everybody always ask me if I want to hit him more than other opponents, but that doesn’t matter to me. The only thing that’s important is that I remain the champion. I don’t get sucked into it. I focus on doing my job, keeping the title.

“It doesn’t matter to me if I go in there and finish him quickly, if I drop him with one punch. All that matters is that I walk out victorious.”
