Goalkeeper scores Panenka, then saves three penalties in Champions League qualifier

Partizani Tirana number one Alban Hoxha was the hero in their second qualifying round second leg win over Ferencvaros.

ALBANIAN CLUB PARTIZANI Tirana progressed through to the Champions League third qualifying round last night — but only after penalty shootout drama.

Drawing 2-2 on aggregate with Ferencvaros of Hungary after 210 minutes of football, spot-kicks were needed and Partizani goalkeeper Alban Hoxha stepped up first for his team.

The club captain coolly dinked the ball down the middle with a Panenka, before saving three penalties (including that of Hungary skipper Zoltan Gera) as they won the shootout 3-1.

That’s leadership for you.

@jay bernard: TV money is vital for the organisation to be able to fund the game around the country at every level. Scrapping the competition may have to happen but it’s a last resort for a reason.
