Ajax's players had their mammies accompany them to the field for Mother's Day

Relax, everyone. It’s not Mother’s Day in Ireland.

IT’S MOTHER’S DAY today in some countries — although Ireland isn’t one of them, so this isn’t a reminder for you to rush down to the local supermarket to pick up a box of their finest Milk Tray.

In Holland, Ajax came up with a novel way of marking the occasion ahead of their Eredivisie game against Cambuur. The Dutch club’s players were accompanied to the field at the Amsterdam Arena this afternoon by their mammies.

A lovely gesture, but with their mammies in close proximity, there’ll be no swearing permitted on the pitch during the game and the players won’t be allowed into the house afterwards until they clean the muck off their boots.

And you can forget about that PlayStation until you empty out that gearbag!
