McGeady fires home his first goal for Sheffield Wednesday

Everton’s on-loan winger has put the Owls up against Nottingham Forest.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY ARE looking to consolidate their position in the Championship play-off places away to Nottingham Forest this afternoon.

And the Owls have gone 1-0 ahead in the first half thanks to Ireland winger Aiden McGeady.

The Everton man, on-loan until the end of the season as he bids to gain first team football ahead of Euro 2016, was back in the starting line-up after being dropped from the squad for Tuesday’s 0-0 draw with Brighton.

On the half-hour mark, McGeady received a pass from Scottish team-mate Barry Bannan and rifled the ball past Dorus de Vries.

It was the 29-year-old’s first goal for the club on his seventh appearance.

Fellow Ireland international Keiren Westwood has started in goal for Wednesday and both players were named in Martin O’Neill’s provisional squad for the upcoming Ireland friendlies yesterday.
