Ireland international Aiden McGeady joins Sheffield Wednesday on loan

The winger moves to the Owls from Everton.

AIDEN MCGEADY HAS completed his loan move to Championship club Sheffield Wednesday.

The Ireland international will spend the remainder of the season at Hillsborough after falling out of favour under Roberto Martinez at Everton.

McGeady underwent a medical last night after the Toffees granted the 29-year-old permission to speak to Wednesday.

He made just one appearance for Everton this season and was keen to push a move through as he looks for regular first-team football ahead of Euro 2016.

Last week, Martinez revealed two Championship clubs were interested in the winger with Blackburn believed to be the other tracking his progress.

Wednesday, managed by Carlos Carvalhal, are currently seventh in the Championship, just one point outside the playoff berths.

McGeady moved to Everton for an undisclosed fee in January 2014 after a stint in Russia with Spartak Moscow.

He has made 76 appearances for the Boys in Green and will be determined to force his way into Martin O’Neill’s side for this summer’s championships with a strong second-half to the campaign in the second-tier.
