Leicester break record transfer fee for second time this week to sign Nigerian midfielder

Ahmed Musa joins the Premier League champions on a four-year deal.

PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS Leicester City have strengthened their squad for the new season with the addition of Nigerian attacking midfielder Ahmed Musa.

The 23-year-old moves to the King Power Stadium on a four-year contract from CSKA Moscow.

The deal, reported to be worth £16.6 million, is a club-record fee, trumping the £13 million the Foxes paid for midfielder Nampalys Mendy earlier this week.

Musa becomes Claudio Ranieri’s fourth summer signing following the arrival of Mendy, goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler and defender Luis Hernandez.

“I feel very happy joining Leicester City, for me it’s one of the best clubs and I feel very happy,” Musa, who helped CSKA to the Russian title last year, said.

“I joined because it’s one of the best clubs in the Premier League and they are like a family. That’s why I joined Leicester City and I’m very excited.

“I look forward to seeing the fans in the new season and I will do my best to make them happy.”

Musa was the subject of interest from Southampton, Everton and West Ham after catching the eye in Russia by scoring 13 goals in 30 league outings in 2015/16.

He bolsters Leicester’s attacking resources as they prepare for their title defence and a maiden Champions League campaign.
