WOLVES GOALKEEPER AARON MCCAREY got the call of a lifetime when he was invited to join the Ireland squad for tomorrow’s Yankee Stadium friendly against Spain.
As if the prospect of facing the reigning world and European champions wasn’t enough McCarey, 21, also had to face the dreaded squad initiation which involves standing on a chair and mumbling your way through a song while the rest of your new team-mates look on with a mixture of awkwardness, pity, and relief that it’s you rather than them up there.

McCarey stepped up to the mark earlier today and performed ‘Wagon Wheel’:
There’s no sign of a video of the performance yet, sadly, so in the meantime we’ll just have to make do with the Old Crow Medicine Show version. It’s probably not as good:
