Meanwhile, former League of Ireland player Eoin Doyle makes the League One best XI.

THE CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM of the year has been named, with three Irish internationals making the cut.

Ipswich’s freescoring striker Daryl Murphy makes the XI, as does Derby centre-back Richard Keogh and Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Keiren Westwood.

Somewhat oddly though, former Ireland U18 international, Patrick Bamford, fails to make the side, despite having recently been named Championship Player of the Year.

Meanwhile, former League of Ireland player Eoin Doyle makes the League One team of the year, despite leaving Chesterfield for Championship side Cardiff at the start of February.

Preston’s Joe Garner, who has been linked with the Irish team of late, is also selected.
