Good evening, folks. Welcome along to Turner’s Cross for tonight’s meeting of Cork City and Dundalk in the 2017 President’s Cup.
Cork City are looking to retain the cup they won here last year at Dundalk’s expense, while Stephen Kenny’s side are beginning life without many of the stars who made 2016 so memorable for them, including Daryl Horgan, Andy Boyle and Ronan Finn.
Kick-off here at a rainy Turner’s Cross is at 7.45pm and we’ll aim to keep you updated throughout the game as thoroughly as we can.
As you can see from the line-ups, Cork City manager John Caulfield hands debuts to new signings Ryan Delaney, Jimmy Keohane and Conor McCormack. Alan Bennett is out injured, while his central defensive partner Kenny Browne isn’t in the squad either. Despite signing a new contract for this season, Browne is rumoured to be on his way to Waterford FC. John Dunleavy remains on the sidelines after missing most of last season through injury.
The only new face in the Dundalk team is Michael Duffy, with former Chelsea youth team captain Conor Clifford named among the substitutes. Dundalk have travelled south without Gary Rogers, Shane Grimes, Chris Shields and David McMillan, while the game comes too soon for new arrival Thomas Stewart.
GOAL! Sean Maguire gives the home side the lead against his former club.
Kilduff was dispossessed on the edge of City’s box after being teed up by Benson, the Leesiders broke with a long ball out of defence by Buckley, Maguire turned Barrett inside out on the left before firing past Sava from a tight angle.

In spite of the success of the last few seasons, Dundalk right-back Sean Gannon says they’re starting from scratch in 2017.

Just over 20 minutes to go until kick-off.
