Football fans avoid jail by buying a Bayern Munich jersey for their assault victim

Two 1860 Munich fans avoided jail by buying their victim a new jersey.

WHO SAYS THE Germans are no craic?

Bayern Munich and city rivals 1860 may not be regular opponents, but the rivalry is still bitter.

Recently, two fans of the blue side of the city found themselves in court, charged with assaulting a Bayern fan, ripping his club hat jersey and scarf off him.

The pair refused to name the third person involved in the attack, and because of this, they were facing up to 15 months in jail each.

But after speaking to the victim, the quick-thinking judge offered the pair choice: either compensate the man to the tune of โ‚ฌ1,000 and buy him a new Bayern Munich hat, scarf and jersey, or head to the big house.

Needless to say, the thugs werenโ€™t long deciding what solution they favoured, and took a Bayern Munich themed shopping trip.

German newspaper Bild report that the judge Karin Jung consulted with the victim to ensure that the punishment should fit the crime.

โ€œThey showed no remorse, cast aside a confession chance and would not name the other perpetrators,โ€ she said.
โ€œI was thinking, โ€˜what would really hurt a football fan?โ€™. And these measures were what I came up with.โ€

The lawyer representing the pair, Gunter Reisinger, said that they had apologised and compensated the man both financially and with some new club merchandise.

โ€œMy clients have already apologised to the Bayern fan and paid him โ‚ฌ500 each for his pain and sufferingโ€

โ€œThey even bought him the full Bayern jersey, a scarf and a new hat, all of which cost up to โ‚ฌ100.

โ€œThere are not two hardcore football fans who would prefer to go to jail than buy kit from the Bayern shop. For my clients it was that or face the maximum penalty.โ€

Common sense by the judge, or should she have sent the two men to jail?

Genuinely not having a go, but why not just stay off it, away from it and completely avoid social media. People will always oppose strong opinions and equally strong opposition to those opinions.

@blindside: even if he didnโ€™t have a profile online the abuse would still be there. Obviously he didnโ€™t help himself last week, but every November he gets more than anyoneโ€™s share of abuse

Iโ€™m sure he gets fairly bad insults from social media and during matches but certainly donโ€™t help himself wearing balaclavas putting it up on social media either

The abuse he gets from his fellow countrymen is nearly every bit as bad as bad as what he gets across the water. The fella is the first one to put his hand in his pocket whenever there is fundraising for anything, he can never be found wanting for effort each and every time he pulls on a green jersey. While he may have made a mistake last week it in no way justifies the abuse he gets.

Priceless asking McClean to take a cut Even though heโ€™s donated a lot of money in the last month not to mention other causes in the last few years.McCleans not on the same money as the lads at the very top,he wonโ€™t be getting that money when he retires and what he does earn now will be taxed heavily.Yes he can live comfortably now but heโ€™s not obliged to take a cut,heโ€™s doing his bit in this crisis.

Letโ€™s be honest here the abuse is vile and wrong but he puts out stuff like last week that brings it on ,Iโ€™m not justifying what the trolls have said to him but he should know by now what will be said to him , I have a serious problem with his ability on the pitch and he makes me angry but I dont wish harm on him , ya he gives it 100% every time he plays in green but thatโ€™s just him running about like a headless chicken , unfortunately he will still make the squad at the moment but letโ€™s call a spade a spade here , he has in no way lived up to the hype from the start of his career and now never will
If the stories of his donations in the past few weeks are true then fair play to him he is doing more than the owners of alot of clubs and should be commended

OMG , when you are in a massive hole, ffs stop digging.

He is a media gift that just keeps giving.

Has he shit for brains or what. Has he no advisors or does he just not listen to friends or family.

Just play football and shut up trying to justify your stupid actions of posting yourself in a balaclava .
rich people try to buy their way into our hearts with their donations or cover their badness,in any case it should be done and itโ€™s tax efficient for him.
Now he is using reverse psychology that he is the victim and totally innocent.

I suppose through time he will lead us to the โ€˜ it has effected my family and they are receiving treatment as a result โ€˜ bit to buy him some sympathy or his sister will LEAK what a good boy he is putting someone up for Christmas .
    Donโ€™t make me laugh
